I am nobody really.
Certainly not a teacher. Or your guru.
But a Seeker, maybe like you,
Who discovered a couple of things
In this journey of awakening.
Perhaps findings helpful to be shared
Like postcards from the Void
Or breadcrumbs of Awakening.
For my birthday (an arbitrary day, but a good one for reflection) I thought I’d draft another postcard from the edge. I would have sent one from the other side, a space increasingly familiar, but in which there also is no need or urgency to convey anything. Language falls short even here at the edge… but I will leave some breadcrumbs for both of us.
There is a space of no thought that has become accessible. Not on demand but sometimes after meditation or when at rest. It is a place of peace. Of everything being perfect as it is. Not an emotional state, just an abiding. Watching what unfolds with no agenda. Silence. The trees glow. Each moment is full and slow. There is just this. What is.
Memory is sometimes inaccessible and always irrelevant. Intention is also unnecessary: the body moves with its own wisdom. The outlines of the body fade and the sense is of one field of awareness in slow motion. Words are spoken as necessary but not remembered. There is a sense of being a passenger in the flow of life. Of perceiving in a dream movie.
I cannot say what will happen next. Will these glimpses stretch into each other and become a permanent state of abiding? Perhaps. Certainly in between them there is so much falling away, so many triggers being noticed and examined, the unwinding of attachment. Needing less. Resisting less. The awakening process in motion. Underneath all the day to day, a deep peace tunneling its way throughout all levels and layers of awareness. A deepening.
